How to configure Configuration Manager 2012 Site Maintenance Task Maintenance tasks are used to remove out-of-date data from the database and to summarize usage data. The available tasks vary between each site type, with the majority available on primary sites. Generally, configuring a task consists of enabling and configuring a schedule or disabling it. Use the following procedure to enable or configure the site maintenance tasks. To configure or enable a site maintenance task In the Configuration Manager console, go to Administration tab In the Administration workspace, expand Site Configuration , and then click on Sites . Select the site in which you want to enable the site Maintenance task. On the Home tab, Click Site Maintenance Click the appropriate task and then click Edit . Select Enable this task , and then configure an appropriate schedule or other properties as applicable for the task. Click OK .

ConfigMgr and Active Directory Integration (Extending the Schema) I got some questions that why Active directory integration is required in Configuration Manager, so thought just put theoretical information which will help to understand the concept. Book : System Center 2012 Configuration Manager (SCCM) Unleashed ) Active Directory is the central information store used by Windows Server to maintain entity and relationship data for a wide variety of objects in a networked environment. AD provides a set of core services, including authentication, authorization, and directory services. ConfigMgr takes advantage of the AD environment to support many of its features. ConfigMgr can use AD to publish information about its sites and services, making it easily accessible to Active Directory clients.
